December 22, 2018
This wedding and whole situation in general was very interesting and very awesome. To say that these 2 work hard is the understatement of 2018. At the time Collin an Reanna were both full time students at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and for the 2 of them, focusing on just graduating was not enough. With graduation approaching they were, not just studying for finals, but planning a wedding, and preparing to move halfway across the country to pursue their careers. How they were able to pull all of this off so efficiently without losing every ounce of sanity they had is so far beyond me!
Sometimes you must improvise to achieve your goal, which is exactly what we had to do. Rain on the wedding day is said to be good luck, and for most brides it adds even more to the stress of the day, but not for Reanna. The couple were to graduate on Friday, marry on Saturday, and then immediately catch a flight after the wedding, and not for your typical honeymoon, they were heading for Texas to plan their future. We called and audible and she opted for bride and groom pictures on Thursday prior to the eventful weekend, and I am so glad she did.
It was the first time I had shot at the gorgeous Ayres Hall on the University of Tennessee campus and the results were phenomenal. One thing I loved about working with Collin and Reanna was how they took everything in stride and were open to some of my strange ideas. With graduation day and wedding day side by side, why would you not wear your gowns and throw your caps while in your wedding dress and tux?
For photographers that have a dark and moody photo style we live for these kind of days. fortunately the rain was light and the clouds were dark. Although its a pain for the guests and sometimes plays havoc on the brides hair, the results are always awesome. It’s even better when the bride agrees to venture out into the rain for one of my ideas.
With all of the chaos and hectic schedules this wedding went off without a hitch. There was a ton of love and laughter shared throughout the day. I could not be happier for Collin and Reanna, and I congratulate them of their graduation, marriage, and new careers. It was so awesome to be your photographer! I can’t wait to see you both excel in your careers. Thank you for the privilege of being your photographer on the biggest day of your lives!
